Fuel Efficiency Has anyone done a comparison of the fuel efficiency of the various Kohler engines under typical operating conditions, ie mower deck engaged with engine at full throttle? I've got the choice of using a 149, 1450, 682 (KT17 engine), or 782 (Magnum engine) to mow the lawn. I thought information technology would interesting to put a quart of gas in each Cub Cadet and see how long it runs while sitting on the paved driveway (to eliminate the variability of lawn acme/grass resistance) with the mower deck engaged. Merely perhaps somebody has already washed this test?

But perchance somebody has already done this examination? All the erstwhile single cylinder K series are meliorate on fuel than any Mag or twin. The V twin, (CH Kohlers) are better than the Magazine'southward and KT's.... just still burn more. They are afterward all, larger engines, and two cylinders. You can't brand a comparing by putting a quart in them and letting them idle. That wont' prove much if anything. You have to load them. Even then, the larger the load, the more than fuel it burns. A snowblower pulls harder than a mower deck ever volition. I can mow in heavy grass with a Magazine 18 for about 5 hours. That's a scrap less than a gallon an hour. I can merely accident heavy snow for about iii hours. Burns it much faster. Over a gallon an hr. All in all.... come on. Are y'all really so tight you are looking to save a few bucks on fuel to cut your grass? Information technology's not going to make that much of a difference. Similar Tim said, what is made up in fuel savings is lost in time taken. I take more time than money.... simply like Tim, I like to get done with that chore and move on.

Toss out a curveball. With a hydro yous can push the footing speed to that fine line between enough HP and the deck still doing a skilful job. Good ol 3 speed and well, y'all just putter around in 2d gear wishing you had a picayune more speed. Speaking of fuel efficiency, buddy of mine has a Deere that runs out of fuel about 15 minutes earlier he can get the yard cut. __________________

Not that it is 1 of your options. But I did find a big deviation between the Magnum 18 and the EFI command. I recall the EFI used close to one-half the fuel. __________________

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of backyard and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a broad variety of Cub Cadet branded and later-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertizing at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the globe's worst destructive forcefulness!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged structure. MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Buck make from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more ambitious role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
